Subject: Bye-Election to the Council of States From Meghalaya

            The Election Commission has decided to hold a Bye-election to the Council of States from Meghalaya, to fill up the vacancy occurred due to the resignation of the sitting member Shri Thomas Sangma, on 4^th February, 2013, whose term of office was upto 12^th April, 2014.

Accordingly, the aforesaid bye-election will be held in accordance with the following schedule:-

1.	Issue of Notification	:	01st  April, 2013 (Monday)
2.	Last date of making nominations	:	8th April, 2013 (Monday)
3.	Scrutiny of nominations	:	9th  April, 2013 (Tuesday)
4.	Last date for withdrawal of candidatures	:	11th April, 2013 (Thursday)
5.	Date of Poll, if necessary	:	18th April, 2013 (Thursday)
6.	Hours of Poll		9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
7.	Counting of votes	:	18th  April, 2013 ( Thursday ) at 5:00 P.M.
8.	Date before which election shall be completed	:	22th April, 2013 (Monday)
