As per information available
in the Public Enterprises Survey 2011-12 that was laid in the Parliament on
26th& 27th February, 2013 there were 64 sick Central Public Sector
Enterprise (CPSEs) as on 31.3.2012. Giving this information in written reply to
a question in the Rajya Sabha on 5th March , Shri Praful Patel,
Minister of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, said that as per
Government of India Resolution dated 6.12.2004, a Central Public Sector
Enterprise (CPSE) is considered sick if it has accumulated losses in any of the
financial year, equal to 50% or more of its average net worth during 4 years
immediately preceding such financial year and/or a CPSE which is a sick company
within the meaning of Sick Industrial Companies (Special Provisions) Act, 1985
(SICA). The list of these sick CPSEs along with the number of employees working
in these CPSEs is as follows:
