Government spot the need to support Textiles Industry at this time of crisis




The Textiles Industry Association seeks ministry intervention to support sick Textile industry by providing a 2 year moratorium on long term loans, special dispensation by Reserve Bank of India in its NPA rules working capital term loans. The Textiles Minister said that the total outstanding debt of textiles sector is Rs. 155,809 crores of which debt of Rs. 35000 crores needs restructuring. Government directions to banks to consider this on priority would be issued in this regard.

Textiles Minister Anand Sharma said that there was agreement with the Ministry of Finance that the debt restructuring package would be considered on a case to case basis by Individual Banks. Ministry of Finance would examine in consultation with Reserve Bank of India for a 2 year moratorium on term loans, special provision in NPA norms to avoid asset reclassification and working capital eroded to be converted into working capital term loans repayable over a period of 3-5 years.

An inter-ministerial committee of senior officials would be constituted to coordinate with Industry-Banks in expeditious restructuring.

Railway Revenue increase by 19.13 percent

Railway revenue earnings up by 19.13 per cent during the period 11th to 20th May 2012
The total approximate earnings of Indian Railways on originating basis during the period from 11th to 20th May 2012 were Rs. 3282.38 crore compared to Rs. 2755.19 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 19.13 per cent.

The total goods earnings have gone up from Rs. 1884.04 crore during the period from 11th to 20th May 2011 to Rs. 2351.07 crore during 11th May to 20th May 2012, showing an increase of 24.79 per cent. The total passenger revenue earnings during the period 11th to 20th May 2012 were Rs. 821.79 crore compared to Rs. 765.98 crore during the same period last year, reflecting an increase of 7.29 per cent. The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs. 79.55 crore during this period compared to Rs. 77.20 crore during the same period last year, showing an increase of 3.04 per cent.

The total approximate numbers of passengers booked during the period 11th to 20th May 2012 were 223.96 million compared to 215.91 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 3.73 per cent. In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the numbers of passengers booked during 11th to 20th May 2012 were 113.51 million and 110.45 million compared to 106.84 million and 109.07 million during the same period last year, registering an increase of 6.24 per cent and 1.27 per cent respectively.

Mrs. Sonia Gandhi has written an invitation letter to Madam to do us the honour to deliver this lecture in India.

Madam Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s life, her struggle, and her determination have inspired millions of people all over the world. Our sincere belief is that in the Process of National Reconciliation which has been launched by President Thein Sein, Madam Suu Kyi will play a defining role.

I conveyed to her our very best wishes for the success of the noble endeavour in which she and her colleagues are engaged.”

Sports Ministry approved to Train of Three Member Indian Swimming team at Olympic Training Centre, Germany



 The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports sanctioned the training of Three Member Indian Swimming Team (OPEX Group) at Olympic Training Centre, Frankfurt, Germany from 01st June to 24th July 2012 for the preparation of London Olympics -2012. The three  member team consisting of 2 swimmers & 1 Coach will undergo training at full cost to the Government. The names of the Team members are as follows:

Achievements of the Department of Heavy Industries 2011-2012



  The Department of Heavy industries release report of public sector Enterprises performance. As per its report, thirty two operating central public sector Enterprises have achieved an aggregate turnover of Rs. 50006.62 crores and recorded a growth rate of 12.33%. The aggregate annual profit of Rs. 7430.78 crore .The appreciating fact is that the renowned US business Magazine Forbes ranked BHEL as the 9th Most Innovative Company in the world. The automotive sector registered growth of 12.23\4% in 2011-2012. The department taken initiatives to promote the manufacture and use of electric Vehicles under the National Mission of Electric Mobility. The National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project (NATRIP) is to be completed by December, 2012 at a revised cost of Rs. 2,288 crore.
