One has to register with a tax filing portal and fill up the Income Tax Return(ITR)-1 form meant for salaried persons. The website will guide the user incompleting the form, which will be like Form-16. To check authenticity of the portals, the list of portals offering this service posted in the ERI(e-return intermediaries) section of www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in. After filing the ITR-1 form, the website will prompt the user to review the ITR-1 form.Once the review is done, users can submit for e-file. Websites offer users an option to submit ITR-1 form by using digital signautre. Users will have to pay additionally, between Rs. 400Rs/500 , for a digital signature or else they can just submit the ITR-1 form without a ditital signature. once the form, without a ditittal signautre, is submitted , users will get the ITR-1 form acknowledgment from the Income Tax department in their mails.Users then have to print the ITR-1 form in black sign it with a blue pen and post ( ordinary/speed post only to the centralized processing centre at Bengaluru.After a few days the IT department will acknowledge the receipt of the ITR-1 form through mail.
