APGovt to set up innovation society, first of its kind in country

The state Cabinet decided to set up AP Innovation Society, first of it’s kind in the country with district chapters to develop innovative skills among students. The state cabinet met at CM camp office in Vijayawada on Friday.
The cabinet led by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu decided to set up innovation centres in schools and colleges. Incubation centres will be set up as start up policy to train the youth in data collection and biometric system. Innovation centres will be developed for each department.
The cabinet decided to start the classes of IIIT Ongole at RK Valley and for Srikakulam IIIT at Nuzvid IIIT premises from this academic year. The cabinet also decided to allot lands for SRM, VIT and Centurian universities.
The state cabinet decided to allot 86 acres at Veerapanenigudem in Krishna district for defence machinery manufacturing units to set up engineering cluster. 72 companies came forward to set up units at a cost of Rs 200 cr providing employment opportunities to 2000 youth.
The cabinet also decided to allot 4.20 acres of land to AP Vidya Vidhana Parishad to set up 300 bed hospital at Narasaraopet in Guntur district. The government allotted 45.27 acres of BELL company to establish test bed facility for rocket and weapon launching at Palasamudram in Anantapur district.
The cabinet approved creation of 527 posts to improve security system in Vijayawada city and 471 additional posts for Vijayawada police commissionerate.
The cabinet decided to acquire 1.05 lakh acres of land at Machilipatnam for deep water port and industrial corridor covering 420 sq km and 29 villages under land pooling system on par with CRDA land pooling system in Amaravati. The government decided to complete the land pooling within one year.
The state cabinet approved the proposal to increase wages of 15,745 out sourcing employees. The employees getting a minimum wage of 6,700 will get 12000 and maximum of Rs 11,500 will get Rs 17,500 maximum salary from August.
To encourage small and medium enterprises, the cabinet decided to 100 acres each in all assembly constituencies to set up MSME parks and so far identified 18,340 acres.
The minister said that the cabinet decided to sanction increments to engineers who successfully completed the Pattiseema lift irrigation scheme in record time. He said that the state government decided to complete the Polavaram project with the same spirit by 2018 by seeking funds from central government.

Murmagao Port registers 46 percent growth in cargo handling in June, 2016

Murmagao Port handled a total traffic of 16.99 lakh tonnes during the month of June, 2016 as against 11.63 lakh tonnes handled in June, 2015, registering a growth of 46 %. Traffic handled from April 2016 to June, 2016 by the port was 84.62 lakh tonnes as compared to 41.39 lakh tonnes handled during the corresponding period last year, which is a growth of 104%.

The growth was fuelled by a significant surge in iron ore exports and coal imports during the first quarter. Container traffic increased by 31% and general cargo by 8%.

The Ministry of Shipping has initiated many measures to improve the performance of the ports which include mechanization of the terminals, improving the TAT (turn-around time), quick evacuation of cargo, expansion of infrastructure and skill development of employees. The slew of measures taken by the Ministry of Shipping to improve performance of ports has started to yield positive results.

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Becomes First Port in Country to Implement Logistics Data Tagging of Containers

On 1st July, 2016, Jawaharlal Nehru Port becomes the first port in the country to implement logistics data tagging of containers. Jawaharlal Nehru Port implemented the logistics data bank tagging of containers, first of its kind facility, which will help importers/exporters track their goods in transit through logistics data bank service. An RFID (Radio Frequency Identification Tag) tag would be attached to each container which would be tracked through RIFD readers installed at different locations.

This would provide the ‘Visibility’ and ‘Transparency’ of the EXIM Container Movement by covering the entire movement through rail or road till the ICDs (Inland Container Depot) and CFSs (Container Freight Station). This service will integrate the information available with various agencies across the supply chain to provide detailed real time information within a single window. This would help in reducing the overall lead time of the container movement across the western corridor and lower the transaction costs incurred by shippers and consignees.

This has been one of the important ‘Ease of Doing Business’ initiatives implemented at Jawaharlal Nehru Port focused towards document, time and cost reduction for the benefit of trade.

Interest subvention to Public Sector Banks, Private Sector Banks, Cooperative Banks, Regional Rural Banks and NABARD for providing short term crop loan to farmers

 

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the Interest Subvention Scheme for farmers for the year 2016-17. The Government has earmarked a sum of Rs. 18,276 Crore for this purpose. This will help farmers getting short term crop loan payable within one year up to Rs. 3 lakhs at only 4% per annum.

The salient features of the scheme are as follows:

a) The Central Government will provide interest subvention of 5 per cent per annum to all farmers for short term crop loan upto one year for loan upto Rs. 3 lakhs borrowed by them during the year 2016-17. Farmers will thus have to effectively pay only 4% as interest. In case farmers do not repay the short term crop loan in time they would be eligible for interest subvention of 2% as against 5% available above.

b) The Central Government will give approximately Rs 18,276 crores as interest subvention for 2016-17.

c) In order to give relief to small and marginal farmers who would have to borrow at 9% for the post harvest storage of their produce, the Central Government has approved an interest subvention of 2% i.e an effective interest rate of 7% for loans upto 6 months.

d) To provide relief to the farmers affected by Natural Calamities, the interest subvention of 2% will be provided to Banks for the first year on the restructured amount.

e) In case farmers do not repay the short term crop loan in time they would be eligible for interest subvention of 2% as against 5% available above.

Andhra Pradesh Government approves Linde India ASU

In a positive sign for foreign investment in the state, Andhra Pradesh state government has approved an air separation unit (ASU) by The Linde Group subsidiary Linde India.
While clearing the investment a few months ago, the location was not previously finalised.

Now the location has been finalised, the food processing industry will benefit. Coming up at the Food Lab and Learning Centre in Bhimavaram, West Godavari district, the plant will cater to the local food processing industry in particular, according to local reports.
Linde India will set up a facility that will provide liquid nitrogen at -196ºC to freeze shrimps, which will help food associations and exporters. Andhra Pradesh is the top state in fisheries production in India.
The Linde Group has well-documented expertise in cryogenic food freezing, and gasworld reported in August (2015) that the group was understood to be interested in investing in the seafood industry in Andhra Pradesh, southeast India.
The company is also said to be interested in setting up a further plant, a lab, and an academy that will train the personnel required for supporting food processing.

High Court names change

In the view and wishes of the State Government  and the people,The High Courts of Bombay and Madras were named after the cities in which they were located. Consequence to the change in the names of these cities, there has been demands for change in the names of these High Courts. At present, there is no Central Law under which the proposal for change of names of these High Courts can be addressed. This Legislation is to address this requirement.

The Bill would pave the way in changing the names of the High Court of Judicature at Bombay as High Court of Judicature at Mumbai and High Court of Judicature at Madras as High Court of Judicature at Chennai.

Since the names of these cities have been changed, it is appropriate and logical that the names of these High Courts also get changed.
The Union Cabinet  has given its approval to introduce ‘The High Courts (Alteration of Names) Bill, 2016’ in Parliament. The High Courts (Alteration of Names) Bill, 2016 will facilitate the changing of the names of ‘Bombay High Court as Mumbai High Court’ and ‘Madras High Court as Chennai High Court’ respectively.

The Union Council of Ministers was today expanded with the induction of 19 new Ministers of State. Shri Prakash Javadekar, Minister of State with Independent Charge of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has been elevated as Cabinet Minister. President Shri Pranab Mukherjee administered Oath of Office and Secrecy to 20 Ministers.Of the 19 new Ministers inducted today from 10 States, 15 have past legislative experience in the Parliament and in State Legislatures with 10 of them having served in central and state governments as Ministers  and officials..

Today Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister held CRDA  review meeting on the development of the capital region.

Texas University to set up tech accelerator in Tirupati

Andhra Pradesh government, in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) and IC2 Institute of The University of Texas, is going to launch a technology accelerator in Tirupati next month.

While they expect the technology that would come in through the accelerator to address state-specific challenges like water management, waste management, cyber security and agricultural technology among others, the broader issue it is trying to solve is unemployment.

"This accelerator is trying to create more jobs by encouraging entrepreneurship, technology and innovation," said Glenn Robinson, director of the accelerator, who will move to Tirupati from Austin, Texas, to head the program.

The accelerator program already has applications trickling in, from which 33 technology startups would be shortlisted to enter the four-month long session. These companies would be filtered down to eight, and then four, who would receive further mentorship to approach potential investors.

Minister of Railways Suresh Prabhu launches NIVARAN portal

Minister of Railways Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu in a programme held on 30.06.2016 at Rail Bhawan formally launched NIVARAN portal, an online system for redressal of service related grievance of serving and former railway employees.

Speaking on the occasion Minister of Railways Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu said that we are trying continuously for the grievance redressal of the Public. We had already launched the Portal for the Public Grievance Redressal. It is an external Grievance Redressal Portal. This Portal is successful because of the work of Railway Employees. Today we are launching the Portal for the Grievance Redressal of Railway Employees. This new initiative is a portal for the internal Grievance Redressal of Railway Employees & amp; Former Railway Employees and in future we will launch this portal in regional languages also.

He further said that by the help of this portal we will try to improve the system by collecting feedback also.

Speaking on the occasion Minister of State for Railways Shri Manoj Sinha said that it is a good initiative and by this Grievance Redressal Portal the grievance of Railway Employees and Former Railway Employees will solve quickly. He also said that by launching this Portal Employees and Former Railway Employees will satisfied because their grievances will solve quickly.

SALIENT FEATURES OF THE SERVICE LAUNCHED 

Minister for Railways Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu has been laying great emphasis on importance of manpower in the organisation and holds that ‘dedicated employees are our biggest strength. Their hard work makes the Indian Railways run’. He has been personally directing path-breaking HR interventions such as directly reaching out to the employees through Greetings on their birthdays. Today under his directions, Ministry of Railways has taken another seminal measure by launching ‘NIVARAN’, an online system for redressal of service related grievance of serving and former railway employees.

Railways being the single biggest civilian employer in the country with over 1.3 millions strong workforce, have created a well – structured multi layered enterprise wide mechanism for addressing staff matters. This online system facilitates the employees to lodge their grievances and also monitor their progress. The system would also provide facility for lodging appeal to the higher authority in case the decision is not found satisfactory. Highest controlling authorities shall also be able to monitor the progress of grievance redressal by field offices.

The Application is developed by CRIS, the IT arm of Indian Railways, on the basis of process designed by Establishment directorate of Railway Board which deals with staff matters and technical guidance of Computerisation and Information System directorate.
