Mobile Banking made life easy

Customers will now be able to transfer money from their accounts to any other account in the country using their cellphones, through the National payment Corporation of india's Inter-bank Mobile Payment Service(IMPS). The facility allows transtions without the need for a computer or an Inter net enabled phone.The service provides an inter-operable infrastructure for banks to offer a real time money transfer facility to customer through mobile phones in seven seconds.The Seven banks offering the IMPS.(SBI,ICICI,UNIONBANK OF INDA,BANK OF INIDIA,YES BANK,AXIS BANK).The RBI licensed to all 50 banks are expected to offer the service,which will be free of cost till March 31 2011.

The project Arrow underway, Inagurate Ten Moderenised Post Offices

In order to provide better Customer and E- Services Through These Post offices,the union Minister of State for Communication and Information Technology,.Sachin Pilot,dedicated 10 modernized Post Offices to the public in eastern Uttar Pradesh as part of the Project Arrow. With this the total number of modernized Post offices under the project in Uttar Pradesh has gone up to 116..The Minister said that this is a very prestigious project of the Department of Posts to raise selected Post Offices in the country to offer much better customer services and e-services.In Uttar Pradesh total 129 Post offices have been identified for modernization under the project.

Ban on Software Companies

In United States of America (USA) as per the recent Executive Order by Governor of Ohio, no public funds should be spent on services provided off-shore (outside the United States).

The move against off-shoring is a concern to India, however, as per National Association of Software Services Company (NASSCOM) Indian IT industry do not foresee any significant impact as a result of this order since Federally funded projects represent a small fraction in the overall demand for off-shored services.

As per the inputs made available by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Department of Commerce, India’s concerns have been taken up with the US side in the India-US Trade Policy Forum as well as in other Bi-lateral engagements with the US side.

E-Post Corporate Scheme

Department of Posts has introduced a ‘pilot project’ on e-Post Corporate service at Kerala Circle. The e-Post Corporate is being used by the Government of Kerala for sending acknowledgement of the petitions received at the office of Chief Minister of Kerala. E-Post corporate has also been introduced as a ‘pilot project’ at Tamil Nadu Circle. Here LIC Housing Finance Limited, Chennai, is sending the loan renewal notices through e-POST corporate service.

All corporate customers will be in a position to use e-Post service once it is launched at the national level.

Telecom Facility in Rural Areas

In order to facilitate expansion of telecom facilities in rural and remote areas of the country, Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) is extending subsidy support to meet the viability gap of the telecom service providers under various schemes which inter-alia are:

Support for setting up of 7387 shareable infrastructure towers in Phase-I. 7208 towers have been set up under this scheme as on 30.9.2010. Provision of village Public Telephones (VPTs) in the remaining uncovered inhabited villages by February, 2011.

Further, the guidelines issued by the Government on sharing of infrastructure will facilitate reduction in the capital and operating expenditure of the telecom service providers in rural areas.

US warns Alcoholic energy drinks

The United States has effectively banned drinks manufactured to contain both alcohol and caffeine. On 17 November, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) sent warning letters to four companies saying that they were breaking food safety law by marketing caffeinated alcoholic beverages (CABs). Drinks such as Four Loko, which combine caffeine with high-alcohol beer, have become hugely popular on US university campuses. But the caffeine in these drinks is an "unsafe food additive", the agency wrote. It has given the companies 15 days to remove the caffeine from their products or risk having the FDA seize them, or block their sale with a court-ordered injunction.

Eight Modernized Post Offices Dedicated to Public in Delhi

A large number of Post Offices in Delhi Postal Circle are getting transformed under Project Arrow. 36 Post Offices had already undergone complete overhaul last year. The Minister said that the latest Phase of Project Arrow would cover 19 Post Offices in Delhi, of which 8 have been dedicated today and the remaining 11 would be dedicated shortly. Besides, uniform brand hierarchy and a single window service system reducing waiting time for customers, the Post Office employees have been sensitised and imparted training in soft skills and IT (Information Technology). All the Post Offices are equipped with broad band connectivity to provide web-based services of the Department such as e-Money Order, Western Union Money Transfer, Instant Money Order, e-Post etc.

Deadline for Subscribers Re-Verification Extended till December 31, 2010

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Ministry of Communications & Information Technology has extended the deadline for completion of re-verification by the Mobile Service Providers (MSPs) of their existing subscribers up to December 31, 2010. During this process the service providers can correct their subscriber’s record wherever they find that the documents collected from the customers earlier are inappropriate or missing.

DoT had earlier asked the Mobile Service Providers (MSPs) to complete re-verification over a window of one year starting from November 01, 2009 to October 31, 2010. MSPs were asked to provide details to the Telecom Enforcement, Resource and Monitoring (TERM) Cells of DoT in the Licensed Service Areas (LSA) on monthly basis about the re-verified customers and also provide on-line access to the scanned Customer Acquisition Forms (CAF). The service providers approached DoT in October for extension of time. They had stated in their request that creation of infrastructure for re-verification has taken some time and now since re-verification activities are in full swing, they need some more time to complete the re-verification.

After consideration of all relevant aspects and consultation with security agencies, the time limit for completion of re-verification of existing subscribers by the service providers has been extended till December 31, 2010 by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).

The foundation looking at top 10 Indian languages having mature content by 2015.It has genarated57823articles, Telugu 45,963,Marathi 31,400,Tamil 25,263,Gujarati17,142 and malayalam14,830.
The WMF targeted at getting in the next five years 100 million unique visitors a month to the site.
